Benefits Assistance Clients’ Urban Project (BACUP)

Our Vision:

BACUP is a consumer-run mental health wellness program whose purpose is to promote recovery for people with mental illness in an environment free of stigma and full of hope.

Our Work:

Located in the heart of Los Angeles, BACUP offers a client-run drop-in center that provides peer support, groups and activities such as arts and crafts, and assistance securing benefits. BACUP promotes wellness, recovery, and self-determination through peer support, SSI/SSDI benefits assistance, and community and family engagement. BACUP programs focus on person-centered, recovery-oriented solutions to issues which plague the mental health community from one day to the next. Whether one’s wellness journey has just begun or if the path is heavily traveled, each visitor to BACUP is met with understanding, respect and a soothing cup of tea in an environment free of stigma and full of hope.
