SSG’s mental health programs are designed to decrease mental health disparities and improve the quality of life for vulnerable populations. A variety of programs offer innovative, comprehensive and culturally appropriate services to advance the wellness of diverse communities.

- ASIAN PACIFIC COUNSELING & TREATMENT CENTERS (APCTC)
Asian Pacific Counseling & Treatment Centers was established in 1977 as the first mental health program of Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health specifically developed to meet the unique needs of Asian Pacific immigrants and refugees who were in need of a wide range of mental health services. In 1990, APCTC made a major transition through privatization to become a county-contract agency under Special Service for Groups. APCTC provides culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health services. APCTC specializes in providing services to Asian and Pacific Islander groups such as: Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Lao, and Thai, as well as individuals and families from other ethnic groups. -

- ASIAN and PACIFIC ISLANDER MENTAL HEALTH ALLIANCE (API Alliance)
API Mental Health Alliance provides comprehensive, community-based, culturally and linguistically appropriate therapeutic interventions to Asian and Pacific Islander adults with severe and persistent mental illness. The program has the motto of “doing whatever it takes” with the resources available to help people meet their individual recovery goals. Populations served include individuals from Asia (e.g., China, Korea, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Cambodia) and from the Pacific Islands (e.g. Samoa, Tonga, and Marshall Islands). -

- ASIAN PACIFIC RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAM (APRTP)
Asian Pacific Residential Treatment Program provides a full range of mental health services to Asian Pacific Islander adults in Los Angeles County with severe and persistent mental illness. The program offers vital culturally and linguistically sensitive mental health services to the mentally ill API individuals who are unreachable by mainstream mental health programs. It offers opportunities for enrolled program members to grow, to become self-sufficient and to improve the quality of their lives. Language capability consists of English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Vietnamese. -

- BENEFITS ASSISTANCE CLIENTS URBAN PROJECT (BACUP)
The Benefits Assistance Clients Urban Project is a mental health wellness center and benefit advocacy program. The wellness center also known as the LIFE Center provides activities to promote self-sufficiency and wellness for adults with mental illness. BACUP also works to educate the community the realities and stigmas of mental illness. -

- HOMELESS OUTREACH PROGRAM/INTEGRATED CARE SYSTEM (HOPICS)
Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System offers an integrated approach to addressing mental health issues, substance abuse treatment, reentry needs and homeless and housing assistance. HOPICS is the designated Community Assessment Service Center for LA County SPA 6 and the South Central Homeless Drop-In Center. Services are provided to individuals and families in South Los Angeles and surrounding areas. -

The Occupational Therapy Training Program provides young people with the skills they need to function effectively within the context of daily life. OTTP-LA serves high-risk, economically disadvantaged individuals ages 4-25 throughout Los Angeles County. -

- OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY TRAINING PROGRAM – SF (OTTP-SF)
Occupational Therapy Training Program provides comprehensive services to help youth and young adults with the skills they need to be productive, independent members of society. OTTP-SF’s target population is economically disadvantaged high-risk minority children, youth and young adults, ages 5-25 residing in San Francisco who experience significant barriers, including: economic disadvantages, severe emotional disturbances, learning disabilities, developmental delay, low basic skills, delinquency, pregnancy and/or parenting and substance abuse. -

The Older Adults Program serves low-income older adults and family caregivers from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds with a specialization in working with Asian and Pacific Islander communities. OAP leads a network of community based organizations sharing a mission to reduce health and mental health disparities for vulnerable populations. -

- THE PAINTED BRAIN (PB)
The Painted Brain (PB) is a peer-driven media and outreach campaign created by young adults with mental illness. Through the use of art and media, PB seeks to eradicate the stigma of mental illness, foster thriving social relationships and to create a community of young adults. -

- PROJECT 180
Project 180 is a forensic treatment program providing in-jail and community based services for offenders. Project 180 delivers evidenced-based programming to decrease recidivism and improve the quality of life for previously incarcerated men and women. Families and the community are also a priority, and staff work closely with court and probation to ensure that the diversion and re-entry programs provide safety and support for all. Community services are provided in Downtown Los Angeles near Little Tokyo. -

- STEPDOWN PROGRAMS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS POPULATIONS (IMD Stepdown Programs)
The IMD Stepdown Programs serves all ethnic groups. The Programs are designed to support individuals transitioning from locked institutional settings into community living. The program has the motto of “doing whatever it takes” with the resources available to help people meet their individual recovery goals. A referral must be submitted and screened for eligibility by the Department of Mental Health Countywide Resource Management. -

- WEBER COMMUNITY CENTER (WCC)
The Weber Community Center provides comprehensive outpatient mental health and substance abuse services to youth aged 0-21. The program targets at risk children and youth residing in Service Area 6 of Los Angeles County. All services are offered in English and Spanish. Probation referrals are welcome. Community service opportunities are provided free of charge. -
