SSG’s capacity building and technical assistance programs are designed to strengthen the ability of SSG programs, community-based organizations,
community members and stakeholders to make a significant and positive impact on lives of the individuals and communities we serve.

APAIT
APAIT’s mission is to positively impact the quality of life for medically underserved communities living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS and other health disparities through culturally competent and linguistically appropriate programs in Southern California. APAIT’s vision is to advocate, educate and achieve optimal health and well-being for medically underserved communities.

FAITH IN COMMUNITIES (FIC)
Faith In Communities is designed to maximize and leverage existing resources and expertise to increase capacity and ability of small to mid-sized grassroots organizations. Services are available to non-profit and faith-based organizations in Los Angeles County.
Our technical assistance consultant/workshop model offers education and training taught by seasoned professionals, a process designed to teach you the steps to nonprofit success.

Services Offered
FIC offers free to low-cost technical training and capacity building services on the following topics:

  • Fundraising, strategic planning and program development
  • Grant writing and grant maker forums
  • Public relations and marketing
  • Data analysis, budgeting and fiscal management

RESEARCH & EVALUATION UNIT (R&E)
Research and Evaluation Unit seeks to build the capacity of SSG programs and our community partners in using data effectively for their program planning, policy advocacy and organizational development. We have experience in conducting evaluation for different type of programs, including health, education, job training, youth development, and community organizing. We have both on-the-ground experience in training community members to design and conduct research in their own community and a track record of conducting community assessments for larger institutions, such as hospitals, clinics, and foundations. Currently R&E provides technical assistance in research and evaluation for grantees of First 5 LA and the California Community Foundation.

    • Conducting community assessments

    • Using MS Excel for evaluation purposes
